Pregnant after First Visit with Amelia Hirota, although PCOS and TTC for 3 1/2 Years!

by Jennah
(Greenville, RI)

After 3 1/2 years of trying to conceive and numerous medical fertility treatments such as clomid and IUI with injectibles, we ended up conceiving naturally after only one visit with Dr. Hirota.

I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and have a history of irregular and anovulatory cycles. My husband and I had really been trying to improve our diet for six months leading up to our first acupuncture appointment and after meeting with Amelia, we tweaked our diet even more and added in the supplements that she recommended.

When I went in for the first visit I felt as though my body was gearing up to ovulate, so Amelia focused the treatment on this and I ended up ovulating and conceiving about four days later! I went for weekly and then bi-weekly appointments throughout my first trimester to help support the pregnancy and to treat the morning sickness I was experiencing. I am now currently 18 weeks pregnant.

We are eternally greatful for this wonderful blessing that Amelia helped us to achieve. I found Dr. Hirota to be highly versed in the knowledge of trying to conceive and especially the female cycle - more so than any of the other doctors I had seen throughout our trying to conceive journey.

She spent several hours with me during my first appointment gathering my history and talking with me before doing the actual acupuncture treatment. She answered any questions I had and was always available to me via phone/email contact in between appointments.

I truly believe that this is the best course of action any couple can take if they are trying to conceive. The natural aspects of Amelia's program are a blessing in this day and age where fertility drugs are prescribed, so regularly, before diet and general health are even considered. I think the main key to success is that both partners are on board and committed to the program as a whole, right from the start.

I wish everyone luck on their journey and many blessings!

Hi Amelia, I have also been diagnosed with low ovarian reserve with an AMH test. My question is since I can't conceive naturally, whether or not acupuncture will help in my situation? Will it help with a better response to medications thereby producing more eggs with potentially good egg quality to have a healthy child? What do you think of acupuncture and low ovarian reserve? Thank you for your assistance, Shelley

In my opinion acupuncture is better than Boston IVF. I started seeing Amelia Hirota at the Center of Balance after I had gone through 6 IVF cycles with 3 transfers. My last cycle ended with a miscarriage at 6 weeks. Learn why Samantha feels that acupuncture worked better than Boston IVF for her.

Dear Amelia, My name is Heather and I've been seeing an acupuncturist that I really like here in San Diego. I recently completed a comprehensive female hormone panel saliva test and it showed that I have high testosterone levels. I was told that I have too much sugar in my diet with possible PCOS. What do you think about high testosterone levels and PCOS?

Dear Amelia, I have uterine fibroids and I had a myomectomy when I was 27. My goal in to get pregnant and shrink the fibroids without undergoing another surgery. Please let me know what you think my coarse of action should be. Learn the answer to Oneka's question, "can acupuncture shrink uterine fibroids?" and ask your own questions too.
