Overcoming Miscarriage with Acupuncture and Herbs

by Sarah McGinn
(Cumberland, RI)

I got pregnant 6 months after a miscarriage at 14 weeks. This was my second miscarriage and it was a very traumatic experience, as I had delivered a very healthy little boy in December of 06. I thought my pregnancy was progressing along nicely, but after testing we found out our baby had Downs and that is why it did not survive.

I waited 4 months to really start trying again. I was doing my temperatures even though I had not yet gone to see Amelia. A good friend of mine went to Amelia and became pregnant so I thought I'd give it a try. I was skeptical of acupuncture and all that goes along with it, but after one session with Amelia I felt so much better.

At first I was reluctant to try Chinese herbs, but after I thought about it I decided to try and I am so glad that I did. My cervical mucus increased immediately and I felt so much better overall. I cut out caffeine completely and drank mostly water. My husband did the same....(reluctantly!!!) We did not drink alcohol while we were trying to conceive.

After 3 sessions with Amelia, taking Chinese herbs and changes in my diet, I became pregnant! I am now 15 weeks and everything is going very well! Amelia became my friend and a huge support to me during this process. Through positive thoughts and weekly sessions I got through the scary first trimester!

I am a huge believer in Amelia's process and treatments. Give it time and she will get you where you want to be...have faith in the wonderful plan that is in store for all of us. The unknowing and timing is stressful but in the end it will all be worth it. I highly recommend Amelia and feel forever grateful to her for her guidance, patience and support.

Hi Amelia, I have also been diagnosed with low ovarian reserve with an AMH test. My question is since I can't conceive naturally, whether or not acupuncture will help in my situation? Will it help with a better response to medications thereby producing more eggs with potentially good egg quality to have a healthy child? What do you think of acupuncture and low ovarian reserve? Thank you for your assistance, Shelley

In my opinion acupuncture is better than Boston IVF. I started seeing Amelia Hirota at the Center of Balance after I had gone through 6 IVF cycles with 3 transfers. My last cycle ended with a miscarriage at 6 weeks. Learn why Samantha feels that acupuncture worked better than Boston IVF for her.

Dear Amelia, My name is Heather and I've been seeing an acupuncturist that I really like here in San Diego. I recently completed a comprehensive female hormone panel saliva test and it showed that I have high testosterone levels. I was told that I have too much sugar in my diet with possible PCOS. What do you think about high testosterone levels and PCOS?

Dear Amelia, I have uterine fibroids and I had a myomectomy when I was 27. My goal in to get pregnant and shrink the fibroids without undergoing another surgery. Please let me know what you think my coarse of action should be. Learn the answer to Oneka's question, "can acupuncture shrink uterine fibroids?" and ask your own questions too.
