IVF and Acupuncture Success Story

My husband and I were in our early 30's when we decided to start a family. After 19 months of unsuccessful attempts my OB/GYN recommended an HSG test. The results revealed blocked fallopian tubes, a condition known as hydrosalpinx. The news was devastating but it answered that draining question, "Why can't I get pregnant?"

This was the beginning of our IVF journey.
Our first IVF cycle ended in a chemical pregnancy and two average quality embryos frozen on day three. After meeting with our RE, we decided to try another fresh IVF cycle.

I was searching the internet for tips and ways to improve my chances of conceiving when I came across acupuncture. I was skeptical at first but decided to find a local acupuncturist who specialized in fertility. My husband and I met with Amelia and found that she was experienced, very knowledgeable, and passionate about what she did!

We followed her nutrition advice and I began weekly acupuncture treatments including a session prior to egg retrieval, transfer, and one day post transfer. The second IVF cycle failed however the quality of my eggs greatly improved! In addition, we had three great quality embryos frozen on day five, also known as blastocysts.

We followed Amelia's advice and I took a few months off to give my body a break. After a few months, we attempted our first Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) using the embryos from IVF #2. The FET was successful and I gave birth to a healthy boy nine months later.

I truly believe acupuncture helped me conceive by improving the quality of my eggs and increasing the blood circulation to the uterus. Looking back, I also believe that our second IVF cycle failed as a result of having two IVF cycles back to back. Thank you Amelia!
