Is There a Natural Cure for Hydrosalpinx?

by Donna
(UK)

Hi Amelia,
I have just found out that I have hydrosalpinx and need to know if this means that IVF is my only option or if there is anything that I can do to help natural conception?

Natural Cure for Hydrosalpinx
by: Amelia Hirota

Hi Donna,
Hydrosalpinx is often times due to an infection in the pelvic cavity. Usually the infection is an STD like Chlamydia or HPV. Checking for STDs and treating them effectively is the first step. Secondly, an acupuncturist well trained in herbs can also give you herbs to address the residual fluid and inflammation.

Depending on the severity of your hydrosalpinx, TCM may help or may not. Minor cases of hydrosalpinx may respond well. If yours is severe, adhesions exist and if the tubes are tightly closed, you do have another option.

There is a therapy called Clear Passage that is having success with hydrosalpinx. You can read more about them http://www.clearpassage.com/infertility/hydrosalpinx.php

I would be cautious about moving on to IVF too quickly, as your RE will inevitably want to remove your tubes prior to the IVF procedure. This is to prevent fluid from spilling into the uterus and preventing implantation.

Obviously, once you remove your tubes, your only way to conceive will be through IVF. I recommend that you exhaust your options for treating the hydrosalpinx. Also, keep in mind if an untreated STD is causing this severe fluid build up and inflammation, it will more than likely continue to do so, once the tubes are removed.

I encourage you to find the cause of the hydrosalpinx and have it treated to the best of your ability. If you do end up needing IVF, don't despair. IVF was developed to help women with blocked tubes conceive.

The key to making your first IVF a success is preparation for a minimum of 6 months with acupuncture, herbs, diet and lifestyle changes for both partners. Sperm and egg are equally important in conception and in IVF.

Sending healing energy your way,

Hi Amelia, I have also been diagnosed with low ovarian reserve with an AMH test. My question is since I can't conceive naturally, whether or not acupuncture will help in my situation? Will it help with a better response to medications thereby producing more eggs with potentially good egg quality to have a healthy child? What do you think of acupuncture and low ovarian reserve? Thank you for your assistance, Shelley

In my opinion acupuncture is better than Boston IVF. I started seeing Amelia Hirota at the Center of Balance after I had gone through 6 IVF cycles with 3 transfers. My last cycle ended with a miscarriage at 6 weeks. Learn why Samantha feels that acupuncture worked better than Boston IVF for her.

Dear Amelia, My name is Heather and I've been seeing an acupuncturist that I really like here in San Diego. I recently completed a comprehensive female hormone panel saliva test and it showed that I have high testosterone levels. I was told that I have too much sugar in my diet with possible PCOS. What do you think about high testosterone levels and PCOS?

Dear Amelia, I have uterine fibroids and I had a myomectomy when I was 27. My goal in to get pregnant and shrink the fibroids without undergoing another surgery. Please let me know what you think my coarse of action should be. Learn the answer to Oneka's question, "can acupuncture shrink uterine fibroids?" and ask your own questions too.
