PID and Infertility
by: Amelia Hirota

Hi Jessica,
I'm so glad that you asked about PID and infertility. It sounds as if you've treated the underlying causes of your PID and that's smart, as PID is often the cause of salpingitis (inflammation and fluid in the fallopian tubes.

In terms of herbs and diet for PID, I would recommend working on reducing inflammation and improving liver function. I would recommend 2000 mg of EPA and DHA in fish oil a day to increase your anti-inflammatory promoting omega-3 fatty acids.

In Chinese medicine the liver meridian runs through the pelvis and therefore we often treat the liver for gynecological issues. Artichokes or artichoke leaf extract is fantastic for treating the liver. I also like milk thistle and dandelion for enhancing liver function.

If you are trying to conceive, I would recommend a HSG (hystosalpingogram) test to check the integrity and openness of your fallopian tubes. If the test shows any fluid in the tubes, you want to reduce your consumption of dairy and possibly wheat. I hope this is helpful to you.
