Baby Success with Acupuncture

My story of Baby Success with Acupuncture: My husband and I (ages 34 & 35) had been trying to conceive for 2 years. For 1 of those years, we were also going to a Reproductive Endocrinologist and after many tests were diagnosed with unexplained infertility.

I went through 5 Clomid cycles, 3 IUIs with Follistim shots, with a miscarriage thrown in as well. Anyone going through this process knows what an emotional roller coaster it is-- hoping and praying from month to month for the positive pregnancy test, spending time and money on charting your temperature, ovulation kits, pregnancy tests, etc. Trying to stay relaxed and positive during this time can be hard!

After my miscarriage in the summer, I was feeling discouraged and thought I'd research fertility acupuncture, as I had heard of it but didn't know much about it. I found Amelia Hirota's contact information and made a phone call just to try to get some basic information about her services.

I have to admit I was a bit of a skeptic, not knowing anything about acupuncture and suspicious of how it could help. Calling Amelia was one of the best decisions I could have made.

From the very moment I talked to Amelia on the phone that day, I immediately felt comfortable telling her my whole story and her knowledge on the topic was immediately apparent. You know when you talk to someone and it just clicks and you have that connection? That is what I felt.

I made an appointment with Amelia that day. When I met with her (my husband came, too), she spent a long time just getting our history and answering my many questions. Amelia is clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about what she does.

She presented us with much information and guidance, but never pressured us into making decisions we weren't comfortable with. For example, I did not want to take herbs as I was going to continue with my 3rd IUI cycle with Follistim, but decided to supplement my treatment with acupuncture, dietary adjustments, fish oil and royal jelly. In addition, I began charting my cycle upon Amelia's advice and guidance.

In the Fall, on my 3rd IUI cycle, I also went for acupuncture treatments with Amelia 1-2 times a week. I left each session feeling so relaxed and always learning more about my cycles and body than I knew before.

We were THRILLED to find out weeks later that during my very first cycle with Amelia, we were pregnant. I continued with my treatments with Amelia until almost the end of my first trimester, and as I write this, I am 38 weeks pregnant with my due date just 2 weeks away. My pregnancy has been ideal and my husband and I are so excited to meet our little one!

I have recommended to friends who are experiencing infertility issues to at least check out Amelia's website or give her a call. I think having an open mind to considering options regarding a path that is best for you is such a smart move. I am so glad I made that first phone call to Amelia 10 months ago.
