Hi Amelia,
I had a tubal ligation during a c-section but would like to have another baby. However, I don't want to have a reversal tubal ligation. Is this possible with acupuncture?

Hi Lucretia,
I'm getting a lot of questions about acupuncture and pregnancy after tubal ligation these days. I wonder where this idea of acupuncture opening up surgically closed fallopian tubes is coming from.

If the fallopian tubes are blocked with natural secretions, then acupuncture and Chinese herbs have been shown to be helpful. However, this is generally a lengthy treatment protocol and patients often elect to have surgery to save time.

With tubal ligation, the fallopian tubes have been blocked surgically, often with plastic rings on the outside of the folded tubes. Sometimes they are surgically cut.

I do not know of any acupuncture treatments that will reverse tubal ligation. If you could respond with the source of this information in the comments section, I would appreciate it.

In your case, I really recommend reversing the tubal ligation with surgery, if you want to get pregnant. There is a lot of work being done in this area in Chapel Hill, NC, so you may want to contact a doctor there that specializes in reversing tubal ligation.

Hi Amelia, I have also been diagnosed with low ovarian reserve with an AMH test. My question is since I can't conceive naturally, whether or not acupuncture will help in my situation? Will it help with a better response to medications thereby producing more eggs with potentially good egg quality to have a healthy child? What do you think of acupuncture and low ovarian reserve? I recently completed a comprehensive female hormone panel saliva test and it showed that I have high testosterone levels. I was told that I have too much sugar in my diet with possible PCOS.
